I wanted to make a sound effect for a game i'm developing, and so i recorded a 100-mm artillery cannon at camp williams (utah national guard), then modified the sounds using audacity. The recording was done on an olympus digital recorder in the mid-2000s (first decade). It sounded a little to me like the tribute cannon from hunger games (the sound effect that signals the deaths of the tributes), thus the name.

Some goa synth i created in fl studio a while ago using the pro 53 vst synth. Basically a saw wave form with glide or portamento, this nice lfo lpf in fl studio called fruity love synth, slight hpf, slight distorition (blood overdrive), a little compression, a little pannomatic, the right amount of delay and reverb. Presto!.

Kinda self-explanatory, the 8-bit bleeps and bloops from playing a video game. Recorded like this, it was kinda ridiculous but very fun:my laptop when i was playing that little dinosaur game that loads when your page doesn't load -> 1/8" to rca cable -> used one of the rca outputs -> rca to 1/4" adapter -> scarlett 2i2 -> protools.

I'm attempting to create a controllable thunderstorm for a film, and this is my first legitimate attempt. This recording consists of 4 samples of rain, and another 3 samples of rain+thunder that i recorded one afternoon. Equipment used was the inbuilt mics on a roland r-26, and a sennheiser me66 into a sound devices 702. The clips were recorded at 96khz/24-bit, and they were processed at 48khz/24-bit. For processing, i put the samples into kyma, and crossfaded for texture. The howling wind sound is an analog-style low pass filter's frequency, level, and resonance being controlled by a wacom intuos4 pen/tablet. The rain slowly swells, which was done by changing parameters of a granular reverb. The thunder was also controlled by the wacom tablet, with x, y, and z (pressure) dimensions mapped to making the thunder swell in level, density, and texture. This could have been output in surround, but i don't have that many monitors ;). This style of "rain-synthesis" can also go on indefinitely. Please let me know what you think of the quality of this track; eg, if it sounds real, if the wind sounds ridiculous, too much thunder, etc. Use this sound (wherever) if you want to, or let me know if you'd like an mp3 of this, or for it to last longer. I'd like some credit if you do use it, but it's no big deal. A blog is up explaining the method of creation here:http://www. Kylehughesaudio. Com/2/post/2013/02/tempest. Html.

[[this sound pack contains 8 sounds total, and this is # 4 of 8. ]]. Note: this sound (as all my sounds on freesound. Org are) is **public domain**. Use it, sell it, do anything and everything with it. No need to credit me. I only hope it's useful for someone! however, i'd love to hear about any projects you use my sounds with!!. Abstract, creepy sounds i recorded after watching this video on hans zimmer's creation of the score to the original dark knight soundtrack:. Https://www. Youtube. Com/watch?v=r-l1rctgtoe. (fascinating video, give it a watch! :d). - i found an old rusty razorblade (if it ain't rusty it ain't emo, amiright? amiright? oh god that's in poor taste)- and just started scraping it over the copper-wound strings of my seagull s6 acoustic guitar in which i've installed an electronic pickup. - recorded into reaper on my mid-2014 macbook pro, via direct in through a zoom h4n in audio-interface mode. Only processing: gentle eq highpass at 95 hz. And some slight gain reduction. These sounds remind me somehow of creepy film scores where the strings do that erratic pizzicato thing that sends tingles up your spine. Tell me what you come up with, i'd love to know!!.

Noise created by individual oscillators, using audio paint, with different height images, to demonstrate what happens with too few oscillators vs. Plenty. In the end, the result is not random enough to be noise. The first 2-second burst is pure white noise for comparison. Then we have multiple 1-second bursts from audio-paint in a sequence of different image sizes: 50,100,150,200,250,350, 500, 700, 1000, 1350, 1750, 2200, 2700, 3250, 3850, 4500, and 9999 (this corresponds to the number of oscillators). The last burst is longer, and there is 1/2 second gap of silence after the first (reference) burst and before that last (9999) burst. The images other dimension was 20. The spacing of frequencies was exponential, between 40 hz and 18 khz. This is not intended to be useful, just an illustration during a discussion in a forum (http://www. Freesound. Org/forum/sample-requests/35199/?page=2#post75605). As mentioned there, i realized only afterward that exponential spacing would be giving me an approximation to pink noise instead of white noise, so the reference burst at the start is not really a fair comparison. Ideally, i would go back and re-do all this using linear spacing, but that's a lot of trouble. :-) i did, however, change to linear to get a white approximation, but that's a different sound i'll upload separately (c. F. Http://www. Freesound. Org/people/zimbot/sounds/242053/). I don't believe you can get true white noise without at least something being random in your synthesis method.

**please rate if you like this sound. I appreciate it so much!!**. This is an effect i created with my voice to create a demon growl in audacity using my audio technica microphone. I wanted to create a sound that could be creepy but not too scary for kids or children's stories originally. Then i added the paulstretch effect in audacity to create a more ominous, creepy, scary, evil, sound for a more horror like ambience. I am uploading the original as well without paulstretch and maybe another version with echo and/or reverb. I download from this site often and want to give back by uploading my own sounds! please contact for any requests. You may use this sound for free but please credit me using either tiffany marz or voices of marz. Thank you!! enjoy :). Recorded on a small olympus device, set next to an open sleeve of stale saltines. You can hear her in the plastic packaging grabbing mouthfuls and chewing the crackers all up. She dips into the sleeve of crackers 3 or 4 times in this recording and smacks her chops after eating it all. Sorry about her collar chiming as dog's tags tend to, i just had to record that big mouthed crunch. I've removed the loud plastic rustling sounds, to focus more on the crunching sounds as she munches on snack crackers. Great for dog food or puppy chow commercials or for a film of a beast eating at charred crispy remains. If you use it for a film put a link to your work in the comments below, i'd love to see how you use this audio of a big mouthed cutie pie cruncher dog.

A recording made around noon on the edge of a woods located right in the middle of a major midwestern university. Throughout this entire recording, you'll hear the everpresent hum of heating and air conditioner units running. You will also hear faint conversations and laughter of students as they walk to class, faint sounds from a nearby construction site, distant rumble of traffic, the distant droning of an airplane lazily floating through the april sky. From time to time you will also hear the well known "beep. . . Beep. . . . . Beep. . . . " of a piece of heavy equipment backing up. However, despite all of the dominating background of man and his machines, nature comes through. Sincei was sitting on the edge of a fairly large woods which sits in the center of all of the concrete and glass and steel, the sweet singing of birds lasts throughout much of this recording. Equipment used: zoom h4n recorder using the internal stereo microphones set on 180 degrees for the greatest sound capture.

This file was recorded on november 19 2013 at london's euston railway station quite close to the arrivals board. It was achieved using an olympus ls-100 digital recorder with cad m179 microphones attached to a jecklin disk (see wikipedia) to obtain the best sound possible. As opposed to quasi-binaural recordings where the user attaches small diaphragm microphones to his/her shirt collar (my usual recording method), the jecklin disk can be mounted on a semi-fixed object such as a floor-standing microphone stand which it was in this case, and left for a few moments for the best possible outcome. Using a jecklin disk means that there are no minute movements from a person trying to stand as still as possible, and for some unknown reason, this setup is able to differentiate in front and behind sound image although i personally do not know why this is the case.

alone in darkness is a short bit of thrilling music i made in garageband for a thing called victors crypt. It's instrumental with this melody going thru to the end. It's strings and flute doing the main melody. Some staccato-strings in the background, piano and synth-chords and a bass at the bottom of it all. Could be perfect for an intro, outro, something spooky and cool, suspence, sci-fi, futuristic, mysterious or whatever you feel like. . . . Let the imagination run wild. Feel free to use it as you like as long as you subscribe to and watch my channel! if you wanna use it in your music and gonna release it, ask me first. This sounds as if it were staged by hollywood, but it actually did happen, i swear! birds chirp away to set the scene, but a beefy thunder roll intrudes. Soon after, raindrops begin to fall as if on cue. Theres a little handling noise click in the begining that is easy to crop out if you like. The recording is unedited. At 1:35 i move the mics closer to the deck so you can hear the splashing. At about at 3:10 i you’ll hear a different timbre as i move away from the rain and under an awning. About 3:45 the rain settles down and the birds start chirping again. Hopefully there are some useful segments in here. Recorded with a dead cat on a tascam dr-05 at 48khz 24 bit, then compressed with “lame --preset insane --scale 10” to make up for the low gain i used (i was afraid a thunderclap would engage the limiter). Cheers.

Note: audio may not sound of good quality in preview. A bass loop made with the free brainstormer synth (it's awesome, you can find it here: http://roazhondsp. Storm-mastering. Com/), and then heavy modulated using lots of bandpass & notch filtering automation, pitch automation, distortion, resampling, & multiband compression. I'd recommend to splice things up a bit by slicing it into pieces & arranging them into something new.

Sound is a home-made circuit bent walkie talkie fashioned into a sort of opto-theremin. Main fx used to process it: boss xtortion and wattson superfuzz, with various other fx switched on and tweaked in the middle. Very much like a chainsaw in the beginning. . . That or a motorbike. The "reving engine" effect was created by blocking the amount of light going to the photocell (which was ripped out of a furby!).

I made this recording by attaching my zoom h4n to a sturdy tripod, and using the built-in internal stereo microphones on the zoom. The built-in microphones have a 90-degree and 180-degree setting.
