A friend and i have carefully re-created a sound very similar to his boom sound from scratch using thor synths and reverb in reason 7 and cubase with some tweaking in soundforge. Dubstep bass: 110 bpm wobble at 1/16th note, half of the samples as a sine lfo and saw lfo descending. Sampled in ableton using massive, compression using psp compressor2. Random presets with lfo settings on key parts, and very little other effects used, mostly so this sample can be re-sampled. 110 bpm so it can be pitched up which is usually better then having to pitch samples down.

I was sitting in my car in the city centre of glasgow scotland waiting for a member of my family, so to pass the time i got out my little canon powershot a460 digital camera, wound down my window and recorded the sound of the heavy traffic driving past my car. I recorded my voice while playing freelance horror games; scp-087-b and slender sanatorium. This was so i could get genuine reactions to use as stock voice clips for future use. Some pretty interesting stuff came out. This is when the first "thing" that happens when you start, like hearing the first creepy sound or grabbing your first note.

A collection of sounds of a magazine flipping through its pages and a heavy book slamming shut. Recorded using a blue yeti microphone at 16-bit 44100hz in audacity. Used audacity's noise removal filter to to remove background noise. For this file, i isolated the samples i liked and left a small gap of silence between them for separation later. Attribution appreciated but not required.

I took this sample from a phone message. I did use a live feed,(from the headset output on my phone, through a cable into my digital recorder. ) but it is very soft. When i tried recording with out the live feed, i couldn't even find the noise again. It could definitely use to be amped up a bit.

Effects used: behringer micro-mixer (used here as a "clean boost/volume effect), sirkut electronics gnarler, danelectro eq, boss xtortion, and boss metal zone, with various other fx sprinkled throughout. Then i put a panner with the speed lfo sweeping from fast to slow. Next the right amount of reverb. Finally some copmression and normalizing. Using sound to reach out to angels.

I have a lot of old hard drives, some of which are still working and others are damaged. My project is collect the sounds produced during start-up. To do this i use a digital recorder zoom h4n using the two incorporated microphones and two 'diy'ed contact microphones additionally. A recreation of a lavalier microphone pop. Useful for reality or documentary where an interviewee may rip off their mic or you simply want to create the illusion of that drama. Also useful to incorporate into a "signal lost" effect, etc. Processed with some limiting so it's tamed and ready to throw in a mix. Recorded with an mxl lsm-3 dynamic mic, no reason to abuse my real lav mics.

An experimental sound i did while messing with audacity. Just like i did in that end sound, i just used my table to do the sound, but instead of pounding, i tapped it (man, my table is kinda useful for sfx. Xd). And after that, i added the vocoder, some reverb, and the echo effect then viola! this effect was born!.

I captured this excited pileated woodpecker on the edge of some deep woods, on a hot dusk in august 2010. It was about 7:30 on a calm night at the edge of the shawnee national forest. The tempurature was 85 degrees. What i find really enjoyable though is the rising, and ebbing and flowing of, i believe the typical summer cicadas. Recorded using my zoom h4n recorder using the internal buil-in microphones.

An automatic voice announce the end of the walkway in the airport of bangkok. Recorded by a smart headset ambeo sennheiser very close to the speaker (close to the ground). Recorded in wave 48khz 24bit. Of course i don't "own" the right of the voice used for the walkway. Please be careful about rights if you're using this sound.

I think this sounds a bit like a jazz age theme reflecting a journey by steam ship. It was bolted together from little loopable sections (also uploaded separately here) which were all created using edirol orchestral samples and the magic of arpeggiating programs. Feel free to use this for anything you like without crediting me, or assemble your own tune out of the individual sections.

Ran my original sample thru rc20, tweaked some knobs, added eq for the lofi touch. I believe i used my personal rc20 preset to give it the crunch. I followed up with this resample using my lotus echo pad.

A short, gently alarmed sound i made for negative user feedback events in apps and games. I used native instruments' massive, starting from a patch i originally authored for synthesizing parrot chirps! this sound might also be useful for more generic button duties.

It was made with extraordinary plugins erhu guzheng yangquin and a sense of extraordinary expression, valley reverb, and glides. Authentic expression of chinese traditional instruments is hard to imitate so this scene is very short, but useful. I created this sound using lmms ( linux multimedia studio ) using various ladspa effects and layered a few zynaddsubfx synths, with some automation to tame the fall off's by automating the volume faders. Enjoy :).

This series is done through layering and processing many samples of drum sounds i synthesised using various plugins namely xoxo's vst's and zynaddsubfx mixed with some old hardware samples i made a long time ago.
