This is basically a remix of of previous recording. This field recording at frog hollow estate, daylesford, victoria, australia was after dark on a still night when the frogs went mad with joy. And why wouldn't they after 10 years of drought and now it's so wet and the pond they live in is so full with beautiful rainwater. In 15 years this is the noisiest night of croaks. Recorded on a zoom with 96k sample rate and 24 bit depth. I selected these settings to register the whole range of our frog croaks.

The snailhorn is a wind instrument. (skrt. Skankha, tib. Dung kar, jap. 陣貝, jinkai, 法螺貝, horagai)it is from the shell of a snail manufactured, the tip is detached. Often the snail shell by engraving or ornamented metal versions. Sometimes it is also a mouthpiece of metal used. With hindsight bubbles - similar to a horn or a trumpet - creates a distinctive, penetrating tone. The snail horn is used in different cultures and different symbolic meanings. This high quality recording is of a cargo logistics train leaving the port of fremantle, pulling many, at least 50, sea containers on rail-cars through a railway crossing on a bend, curve of the line. You can hear the signal bell on the drop gate with flashing red lights and the steel rail-car wheels screeching on the curved track.

The sounds of solway's scrap yard on toronto's ernest avenue. It is an old industrial neighbourhood, rapidly gentrifying. The gentrifiers resent the scrapyard, but it was there first. You can hear the sounds of a mobile crane on caterpillar tracks dumping scrap into semi-trailers which will soon pull out for the steel mills of hamilton. A busy sunny summer sunday morning in bellefonte, pennsylvania, us. On this recording you will hear cicadas, traffic on the street at the bottom of the hill, brief voices and a following chorus of barking dogs, police and fire sirens, and church bells. On deck aboard a baltic sea car ferry bound from rostock/germany to trelleborg/sweden. It is late evening, and the ferry is cruising clear of the harbor into the open sea. The recording features the ambient noise on deck, mainly the drone of the ship and it's diesels, some sea in the background, and the occasional door opening and closing. Recorded with a zoom h2n. A wonderful typical mid-summer soundscape of cicadas, and some katydids recorded on the edge of a small town in illinois. Towards the end of the recording you will hear a very cool doppler-effect as the truck passes from right to left. Recorded about 8:00 at night with my zoom h4-n recorder using it's internal microphones. I had the volume level set fairly high -- 80 -- so you will probably also hear the constant hum of the various central air conditioning units. .

A clean raw stereo recording of a about a thousand people chatting with each other. Almost no distinct dialogue, but a discerning ear would hear american english and iberian spanish. Recorded in stereo on an h4n. The microphone was positioned on the side of the crowd, but pretty close. Recorded in a big space with huge ceilings--would be suitable for a theatre, auditorium, rally, sports game, etc. , but an experienced editor might be able to make this into an outdoor scene as well. There might be minimal handling noise.

The past two nights were very stressful and restless due to this crazy hurricane which has come to the balkans and has been terrorizing all the nearby cities. Then i walked past it and sat down for the majority of the recording where you can hear the second construction site that is about a short-block away and that's where all the hammering is coming from. Harp player from gambia, africa playing the chora, a typical harp used in gambia or senegal, in western africa, by the so called "griot", a singer, storyteller, singing songs and stories, thus beeing part of the oral tradition of his country and people. The recording was made during the berlin carnival of cultures in the summer of 2011, the harp player and the drummer (djembe) were sitting among the crowd of listeners open air at the bluecher platz. Indian hand pumps are manually operated water pumps that are commonly used in rural areas of india. When i recorded the pump is in operation, you may hear the rhythmic sound of the handle being moved up and down, as well as the sound of water being sucked up from the ground and pushed up through the riser pipe and in addition to the sounds of the pump itself, you may also hear other ambient sounds in the village, such as the chatter of people going about their daily activities, the sounds of animals.

Short field recordings made with my iphone in august 2013 while visiting family on one of the many small residential islands located in beaufort, south carolina (of forrest gump, the prince of tides, the big chill, and the great santini fame for any movie buffs out there). The loud buzzing is the ear-piercing mating call of the cicada insect, a sound that's hard to escape in the sultry summer months and semi-tropical environment of the south carolina low country. You can also hear tree frogs and i think maybe some birds too. Unfortunately there's also a little ambient whine of an air conditioner at times and me tip-toeing quietly around on the crunchy gravel dirt road. . . Because i didn't realize my iphone would do such a good job of picking up the sound of my footsteps. :). Assisted breathing for my agonizing friend the day before he died. He told me that the sounds bothered him (morphine made him sensible to ears), that everything was magnified, so i raised the input level to 9, removed the lo-cut and the limiter in order to better understand how he perceived it. I was laying in the sunshine about 10 meters away, falling asleep :).
